Responsibilities

Overview:

Manage and perform strategic sourcing and spend management for centralized, centrally coordinated and decentralized spending on capital projects, engineering services, and environmental, health and safety services, including remediation.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing supply category strategies, applying best-in-class procurement processes and technology, managing special projects, driving procurement/supplier initiatives. The end result is to meet product, service, quality and overall supply requirements, and achieving cost savings objectives. 

The successful individual will provide leadership on sourcing strategies and will be required to lead cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives; plan, manage and report regularly on cost savings goals; and provide high levels of overall customer satisfaction by developing and leveraging an innovative and high-performance supply base

Primary Responsiblities:

Business Relationship, Process Alignment, and Value Delivery

  • Responsible to ensure alignment between Procurement, Corporate Engineering Services, Business Engineering (at corporate and plant level), and Legal
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders including regular meetings to align on project lists, sourcing strategies, priorities, key opportunities and issues
  • Participate in capital project planning sessions to thoroughly understand BU/Project requirements, technical and commercial background information and sourcing support needs.
  • Demonstrate a high level depth of understanding of the supply market and serve as subject matter expert for stakeholders
  • Participate in project reviews, close outs and industry and benchmarking sessions
  • Responsible for escalating issues to senior leaders and for removing barriers for the capital execution team

 

Strategy and Process Development

  • Develop and implement sourcing policies and procedures applicable to category and effectively communicate same
  • Lead the negotiation strategy development and execution for areas of spend responsibility.
  • Leverage global and regional sources of supply to create credible competition, flexibility and best cost position
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to unlock value, mitigate inflation, mitigate risk, and contribute to successful delivery of capital equipment and services per delivery and start up criteria Understand the regional and global business requirements for third party service
  • Employ financial analysis and economic modeling skills to evaluate supplier proposal pricing and develop flexible contractual pricing models
  • Champions and supports the deployment of the appropriate purchase to pay solutions
  • Drive utilization of tools and techniques aligned with the process framework and architecture

 

Supervision, Performance Management, and Talent Development

  • Accountable for performance management, talent development and engagement of the procurement resources working in these categories.
  • Indirectly manage the resources from the regional operations teams working on capital and other projects to ensure delivery of the timely and effective procurement expertise for regional projects.

Required Education

  • At least 5-10 years of experience in Procurement or Operations roles with a successful track record in developing and executing supplier strategies for capital spending\capital expenses 
  • Proven ability to be proactive in business discussions related to the indirects categories
  • Demonstrated Procurement & Operations experience
  • Expertise in contracts management, either in Procurement or operational contexts
  • International experience is strongly preferred
  • A demonstrated ability to:
    • Provide procurement leadership in executive discussions in prioritization of spend projects and resources to meet business objectives in a fast paced environment
    • Contribute to the development of global procurement strategies to achieve competitive advantage
    • Manage categories with a high level of complexity and spend impact to the businesses
  • Demonstrated skills in working effectively across business lines and partnering with the businesses and departments to meet objectives
