Based at the FMC Tower (global headquarters in Philadelphia), this position is responsible for the Procurement of all Professional Services categories. This includes consulting services, IT/telecom, marketing, human resources, travel, corporate fleet and real estate spend. This position acts as a partner to the businesses and corporate functions in identifying and managing sourcing needs, develops relationships with suppliers and maintains subject matter expertise in relevant categories in order to bring innovative procurement solutions at the highest value and total lowest cost to FMC. The role also partners with other procurement professionals located in other regions of the world with the intention of driving global strategies and local execution.


Responsibilities include developing and implementing supply category strategies, applying best-in-class procurement processes and technology, managing special projects, driving procurement/supplier initiatives. The end result is to meet product, service, quality and overall supply requirements while delivering cost savings objectives.


It is our objective to move away from “spot buying” to Strategic Category Management where we pro-actively develop sourcing strategies for the future spend along with the departments we partner with, we envision a future where spend for these important categories is managed through the procurement organization via functional teams.

  • Builds, enhances and manages the relationship with the key internal stakeholders ensuring effective alignment of Procurement and business/corporate functions strategies
  • Develops Procurement category strategies and leads the execution of the vision and strategic direction for complex spend categories
  • Understands the regional and global business requirements for third party services by developing and maintaining interaction with regional/local Procurement team and key stakeholders
  • Develops measures and monitors annual supplier performance and resource plans for the categories ensuring that all enablers required are available to deliver the strategy
  • Develops and executes RFPs/RFIs, leads negotiations with suppliers and develops contracts in conjunction with the Legal department
  • Utilizes strategic sourcing toolset within area of responsibility
  • Employs financial analysis and economic modeling skills to evaluate supplier proposal pricing and develop flexible contractual pricing models which accommodate inflation, currency, scope changes, and other areas of risk mitigation and cost control
  • Develops and implements supplier performance management strategies and measurement criteria for key categories
  • Assures full compliance with all regulations and responsible care guidelines
  • Provides leadership to drive continuous improvement in spend management processes and implemented tactics to drive compliance across the company
  • Executes the defined strategic sourcing process and drive utilization of tools and techniques aligned with the process framework and architecture

Pivotal to your success in this role will be your ability to influence and motivate others in a matrix environment. You'll need to be proactive about getting to know the key players in each of our businesses (Agricultural Products, and Lithium), and in various other functional areas.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience,  MBA desired
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in Procurement or Commercial roles with a successful track record in developing and executing supplier strategies in the Professional Services category

  • Proven ability to be proactive in business discussions related to the indirects categories
  • Demonstrated Procurement technical functional skills
  • Expertise in contracts management, either in Procurement or Commercial contexts
  • International experience is strongly preferred
  • A demonstrated ability to:
    • Provide procurement leadership in executive discussions in prioritization of spend projects and resources to meet business objectives in a fast paced environment
    • Contribute to the development of global procurement strategies to achieve competitive advantage
    • Manage categories with a high level of complexity and spend impact to the businesses
  • Demonstrated skills in working effectively across business lines and partnering with the businesses and departments to meet objectives
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Solid interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and a demonstrated ability to analyze complex pricing proposals and formulate a strategic plan
