Overview

This position is responsible for the architecture, tuning and maintenance of FMC’s 24x7 data storage and virtual server infrastructure environment. Working with industry experts and other IT and business teams, the Storage Administrator is responsible for achieving overall technical integrity, data availability and administration of the organization’s storage and server infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of internal and outsourced Storage and Server team(s)
  • Audit & enforce Corporate Data Storage Recovery\DR Standards and Operating Procedures
  • Acting Subject Matter Expert on Storage functions
  • Keep appraised of SAN and storage, backup & recovery technology changes, advances and enhancements.
  • Work thru all SAN, SAN switch, network, server and guest virtualization layers to ensure end-to-end virtual server infrastructure performance and availability
  • Leverage internal and outsourced Storage and Server resources to complete daily operating activities, such as:
    • Monitoring storage and server usage and allocation
    • Perform storage allocations, including clones and snapshots
    • Manage inter-site storage connectivity, replication and synchronization
    • Perform storage and server monitoring and tuning
    • Verify storage and server integrity
    • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of storage to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuration guidelines
    • Perform SAN and server capacity planning, management and reporting functions
    • Interface with architectural, business and operational teams to design, implement and support standards-based, cost effective storage and virtual server infrastructure solutions
    • Develop and maintain a library of supporting documents for storage/server hardware and software configurations
    • Develop, track and report on key SAN / virtual server infrastructure service level metrics
    • Maintain SAN and virtual server infrasturcutre growth statistics, space forecasts and software & hardware inventories
    • Maintain production change control schedules and participate in change control meetings representing storage and servers
    • Monitor and tune storage and server systems to achieve optimum performance levels for application requirements
    • Perform software installations and upgrades to storage operating systems and layered software packages
    • Manage, maintain & support SAN/converged switches and storage connectivity technology
    • Troubleshoot SAN and Server problems and respond to escalation and performance repairs as needed
    • Manage, maintain & support Virtual Server Infrastructure including Hyperconverged architectures
    • Develop, document, maintain & test business continuity procedures pertaining to SAN and server environments
    • Keep appraised of SAN & server, backup and recovery technology changes, advances & enhancements
    • Plan and participate in regular disaster recovery activities
    • Interface with Operations Staff to ensure proper & efficient data protection/recovery mechanisms are in place & tested
    • Architect, implement & support storage replication mechanisms to ensure business continuity/ availability goals are met
    • Develop, publish & enforce SAN and server architecture standards across IT landscape
    • Maintain & support SOX compliance and internal controls
    • Monitor & perform follow-ups on compliance violations
    • Provide detailed professional technical documentation for both procedures and diagrams on all of the above accountabilities 
    • Overall architecture, configuration and management of FMC’s SAN / Server Infrastructure to ensure accessibility and protection of data
    • Capacity planning and performance tuning of FMC’s Storage and Server environment
    • Following FMC’s Project Management methodologies, manage projects associated with FMC’s Storage and Server environment
    • Create, document and enforce Corporate Storage and Servers, DR Standards and Operating Procedures

Required Education

Required Education: Bachelors Degree

 

 

  • 5 or more years of information technology experience

  • Minimum 5 years server hardware and software administration
  • Minimum 5 years Enterprise level SAN Storage implementation/administration/management experience
  • Minimum 5 years SAN fabric management experience
  • Minimum 4 years Server Virtualization/Hypervisor support/management experience
  • Minimum 4 years experience in Capacity planning and performance analysis for Storage, Fabric, backup and recovery
  •  Core VMWare experience

  • Enterprise information technology experience

  • Server hardware and software administration
  • Enterprise level SAN Storage implementation/administration/management experience
  • SAN fabric management experience
  • Server Virtualization/Hypervisor support/management experience
  • Experience in Capacity planning and performance analysis for Storage, Fabric, backup and recovery
  • Strong MS SQL, Exchange, Windows Server Operating system knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of network transports and protocols including optimization techniques for storage replication
  • Thorough understanding of network file systems including CIFS, NFS.
  • Thorough understanding of backup and recovery technologies and practices, including high availability/clustering solutions
  • Working knowledge of LAN free backup components
  • Working knowledge of Virtual Tape Libraries
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management processes and tools
  • Business Impact analysis experience as well as ROI/RTO analysis experience required
  • Project Management experience
