Overview

The FMC Procurement organization is a fast growing group and we are excited to be adding a Sourcing Manager in EMEA to our team.

 

Based at the FMC European Innovation Center in Hørsholm, Denmark this position is responsible for the Procurement of European R&D services. This includes studies for regulatory sciences and regulatory affairs, and field development trials. This position acts as a partner to the EMEA Regional R&D team (primarily based in the UK and France) and delivers value by reducing risk, improving quality, and reducing cost. You are expected to achieve this by identifying and managing sourcing requirements; using existing processes and tools appropriately; identifying process improvements; building, maintaining, and improving relationships with FMC scientists and external CROs; becoming a subject matter expert for Procurement related R&D, and using that knowledge to drive purchasing innovation for FMC.

 

This position reports to the Category Manager, R&D, who is based in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of sourcing strategies. You will own the execution of sourcing strategies which deliver breakthrough value to the organization while constantly striving for improved quality. 

 

  • Category management support. This includes:
    • Contributing to and supporting execution of FMC’s internal Procurement R&D strategy (e.g., annual review and adjustment, supporting the internal business stakeholder knowledge of the strategy, and implementing the strategy in EMEA region).
    • Supporting contract life-cycle management (e.g., renewing expiring contracts, updating pricing annually, etc.).
    • Supporting supplier management (e.g., refreshing, developing and tracking metrics (KPIs/SLAs).
    • Supporting the development of the supplier capability matrix
    • Studying and understanding the marketplace for changes, managing potential business impact, and developing risk mitigation plans.

  • Continuous Improvement support. This includes both department/category specific business process improvements (e.g., enhancements to the sourcing process, development or revision of key sourcing procedures, documenting processes, etc.) and personal development.

 

Required Education

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other science subjects required. MBA preferred. Minimum 5 years relevant experience work experience
  • Strong strategic sourcing knowledge base, showcasing experience and success. An excellent negotiator.
  • Above average quantitative and analytical skills, strong knowledge of MS Excel required
  • Ability to appreciate and understand business partners’ pain points and effectively recommending and generating solutions
  • At ease with a fast-paced changing environment, requiring regular work prioritization and juggling multiple requirements at any given time
  • Highly agile learner with creative problem solving skills

  • Willingness to travel within Europe to meet stakeholders at critical points throughout the year. Limited travel to HQ in Philadelphia (typically once per year)

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of key R&D supplier KPIs and SLAs
  • Additional European language skills e.g., French, German etc.
