Overview

As the North America Compensation Manager, you will enjoy companywide visibility as you support corporate, our business units and a dozen locations throughout the US and Canada.  It will be your responsibility to fully evaluate compensation programs and make an impact working in conjunction with the businesses and closely with local HR partners and line managers throughout North America.  You'll serve as the compensation expert, doing benchmarks, making recommendations and more.   While you'll work in Philadelphia, at times interfacing directly with the leadership team, we are a global company so you'll also interact with peers around the world.  You'll enjoy working in tandem with the Corporate Compensation Director, and if you don't already know it, learning executive compensation and participating in special projects.  Work hard, demonstrate your talent and prove yourself, and you could pursue future opportunities within our growing company.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

Ø  Provides benchmarking and competitive insight to HR partners and line business leaders by monitoring competitive trends in compensation and identifying  the organization's position compared to other employers.  Acts as primary contact for US Chemical Industry and other national salary surveys.  Evaluates and recommends appropriate sources for local market and specific functional surveys and studies.

Ø  Assures proper evaluation of jobs through senior levels, applying the Hay benchmark/evaluation model and market pricing techniques.   Provides guidance in development of job descriptions and postings.  Reviews proposed grades for new, changed positions and assures internal equity across businesses/locations.

Ø  Contributes to development and implementation of base compensation plans to ensure consistency throughout the US.  Monitors the effectiveness of programs and recommends modification. 

o   Counsels line managers and HR partners on individual salary treatment.

o   Leads periodic grade structure validations for specific functions/locations with HR partners and line management

o   Reviews plans and structures for compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

Ø  Works with location HR managers to develop and recommend local salary structures and annual structure movement, considering appropriate industry data, local market competitiveness and job benchmarks. 

Ø  Contributes to design,  implementation and administration of annual incentive & other variable pay programs aligned to business strategy.  Reviews proposed changes to incentive eligibility to ensure consistency in US/Canada.  Identifies market trends in variable compensation and recommends changes to eligibility to maintain competitiveness.

Ø  Leads communication of compensation plans & projects including the design, communication, and implementation of new plans and programs.  Participates in development of communication materials and delivers training for HR, line managers and employees as required.

Ø  Partners with FMC global regions to gain understanding and ensure consistency of North America compensation practices with global compensation philosophy and policy.

Ø  Assists Compensation Director with executive compensation and special studies, including data preparation for annual Proxy, Long Term Incentive grants process, and annual incentive payouts.

 

 

Required Education

Required Education:

 

  • Bachelors Degree, advanced business degree preferred

 

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Employee–pay experience including job evaluation, market pricing, base pay structure design, and incentive plan design with 1–2 years experience at the manager level preferred. The successful candidate should be results–oriented and have the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience and knowledge with regulated manufactuing industries.
  • SAP HCM experience is preferred. 
  • Bachelors Degree, advanced business degree preferred. Strong influencing and communication skills required
  • Good analytic skills, ability to analyze, synthesize and draw conclusions from the data is key. High degree of attention to detail.
  • Current knowledge regarding Compensation policies and programs to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met at the federal, state, and local levels;
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment; able to build and maintain strong client relationships and influence as appropriate
  • Expert Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Experience with Executive Compensation is a plus
  • Experience with Hay job evaluation system a plus
