Overview

This position will be responsible for the forecasting and collaborative demand planning process for the Global Specialty Solutions business unit. The Demand Planner assembles and assesses key inputs (sales history and trends, open orders, sales and marketing estimates, previous forecasts, new product launches) and performs statistical analysis to develop an accurate operational demand plan that ensures high service levels and efficient inventory management. This position will actively participate in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Logility Demand Planning tool. 

 

The GSS Demand Planner is responsible for coordinating synchronized demand planning activities in support of the business.
Works with cross-functional teams on projects such as new product introductions, label extension, and production discontinuations.
Supports the implementation of demand planning projects, specifically to address forecast accuracy improvements, bias reduction, and use of statistical forecasts where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Logility Demand Planning tool for assigned products and regions
  • Maintain statistical models and key drivers to provide an accurate forecast and ensure data integrity
  • Responsible for system data entry and integrity of new items, sample items, item changes, and purging discontinued items.
  • Ensure data is accurately reflected in the system
  • Review and resolve exceptions
  • Execute demand forecast process and modeling, including gathering inputs, consolidating information and data entry into Logility.
  • Partner with Sales/Marketing team to develop a consensus demand plan
  • Evaluate sales history to recommend changes to the independent forecasts
  • Assemble and assess statistical and commercial forecasts based on market and competitive information, customer trends and product promotions to deliver improved forecast accuracy
  • Document and challenge forecast assumptions based on process input analysis, forecast modeling, and monthly update
  • Review and analyze forecasts, conduct trend analysis, identify opportunities and risks, and recommend appropriate revisions and tactics.
  • Facilitate the monthly Demand meeting as part of the monthly S&OP process, resulting in a demand plan for supply chain production and inventory planning.
  • Highlight potential supply issues, based on demand planning variances, and communicate potential inventory and service level impacts in a timely manner
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process
  • Analyze forecasting reports and key performance indicators (forecast accuracy, error and bias) to continuously improve the quality of the forecast. Provide root-cause analysis and identify corrective actions to meet forecast accuracy and bias goals.

Required Education

BA/BS in Business/Statistics, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in Demand Planning Activities, acting as Demand Planner 
  • 2-5 years in agricultural commercial role desired
  • APICS or IBF certification highly preferred
  • Logility Demand Planning, or other related statistical forecasting package highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of SAP or another MPRII
  • Experience working cooperatively across multiple organizations and geographies to identify and resolve system, process, financial and other issues
  • Excellent organizational, communication collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills
  • Demonstrated sound decision making, problem solving, and ability to react quickly under pressure
  • Ability to interact effectively with multiple functional groups, translating commercial opportunities and threats into useful demand / supply information
  • Demonstrated ability to present and sell ideas, plans, and recommendations through influence, resulting in effective decisions and improved business results
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically about issues, form objective opinions, and make timely decisions
  • Results driven, self-starter capable of executing improvement initiatives
