Position Summary

FMC Corporation is seeking a motivated team member to lead, implement and support Business Intelligence solutions (primarily, but not limited, to SAP-BW). The scope of this position requires a good understanding of Finance and/or Controlling processes and SAP-BW functionality. In addition this position requires an understanding of the SAP Netweaver Portal and other technology solutions that can be utilized in the Business Intelligence environment (eg. SAP Business Objects)

The Senior Business Process Lead - BI will employ business and IT skills to design, build, develop, and deliver world-class solutions in a partnership approach with FMC business leadership. He/she must be able to work independently and transmit a strong sense of confidence in helping the business achieve their vision of a successful business transformation.

The Senior BPL role requires application of business knowledge, and BI solution expertise to effectively deliver BI capabilities to the businesses. The Senior BPl is responsible for working in conjunction with business leadership to understand and document requirements, define functional and technical solutions, evaluate available solutions and make recommendations as to the optimal solution; define acceptance criteria and test strategies, develop required BW or Portal objects and configuration, direct programming resources in the delivery of technical solutions, assist in testing responsibilities, work with business constituents on user acceptance testing and sign-off, define and manage the development of training material, manage assigned project management responsibilities, and report on status and progress on a regular basis.  Post-implementation, this position must continue to demonstrate continuous improvement through application of a well-defined BI vision to further improve business performance as competitive environments continue to evolve.

The Senior BPl actively seeks to understand new BI functionalities and technologies, obtains management approval to implement the new functionality or technology and makes a business case to encourage the businesses to implement the new solutions.

The Senior BPl also serves as a mentor to other BI Team and IT resources to further develop their understanding of BI solutions, functionality and technology.



Major Responsibility Areas (MRAs)

  • Accountable for BI systems process analysis, design and simulation at the most complex level with a specific focus on Finance related applications. Focused on process improvement, quality improvement, and re-engineering opportunities
  • Functions as a project manager on small to mid-size projects. Responsible for the entire lifecycle of a project. Manages project team resources to successfully meet the project objectives in terms of functionality, time and cost
  • Follows standard project methodology
  • Considers impact of project on existing Sarbanes Oxley controls
  • Develops and manages the plan for their segment of the project
  • Coordinates the work for and motivates other resources to meet project objectives
  • Performs configuration or builds the necessary BI objects, and develops program specifications required to meet the project objectives
  • Identifies potential issues, which may impede delivering on business requirements, bringing those issues to the attention of the functional team leader or project sponsor and driving to resolution to obtain business results.
  • May work closely with consultant(s) to ensure successful implementation of projects
  • Provides expert advice and counsel to Business and IT project teams for systems and processes in BI
  • Works with IT and end users to map new reporting requirements to the appropriate SAP (and other related) BI system and works with end user community on potential enhancements.
  • Independently identifies BI solution improvement opportunities and builds business case to encourage the business to implement these solutions.
  • Ensures functional business requests are consistent with the CIT governance strategy and the IT business support model.
  • Ensures results obtained satisfy client requirements and that the new business processes operate effectively and efficiently in the integrated system environment. Obtains written approval from client that change is completed to their satisfaction
  • Effectively communicates significant changes to colleagues and the end user community in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for documenting business procedures relating to new functionality, up-to-date configuration, end user training materials
  • Responsible for transitioning support of any newly developed application to the designated Support Specialist(s), which includes providing appropriate documentation and providing ad-hoc assistance when required.
  • Maintains current knowledge of SAP BI and related solutions, and is able to determine relevance for FMC.





Required Education

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Formal Education:

  • BS. Degree, preferably in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics),                   and/or equivalent years of business experience.
  • Post-graduate degree in a technical discipline or MBA preferred.


Specific Knowledge Requirements Include:                

  • Strong knowledge of Finance and/or Controlling business functions
  • Strong knowledge of SAP Finance or Controlling modules
  • Strong knowledge of SAP Business Warehouse
  • Functional knowledge of at SAP Portal
  • Functional knowledge of ABAP
  • Functional knowledge of SAP
  • Good knowledge of business software i.e. Word Processing, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange or equivalents.
  • Familiarity with other SAP business functions, e.g. MM, SD, etc. desired
  • Familiarity with SAP Business Objects desired
  • 10+ years of Business Intelligence design and implementation experience (at least five years with SAP-BW) with 6 + years of project delivery experience
  • Prior experience with SAP, Netweaver Portal and/or Business Objects desired
  • Other Skills
