Provide leadership to the North America regional procurement function in the sourcing of appropriate goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership. Lead teams of Buyers/Specialists to conduct purchasing activities and compliance of site purchasing operations, resolve regional supplier issues, implement company-wide initiatives, perform and lead site procurement operations to provide site requirements. In addition, this position will be responsible for generating value to the company by sourcing local /regional agreements. This work requires exercising strong analytics, independent judgment and problem solving abilities. A successful candidate will harness their curiosity to generate knowledge and find innovative solutions while balancing simultaneous projects and business demands.This role will focus on effectively meeting the needs of the organization in terms of quality, quantity, time, and location, while managing the regional purchasing function to ensure an uninterrupted supply at optimum cost, and within the policies and guidelines established by management



  • Provide procurement leadership to direct reports and overall procurement operations in region
  • Implements global/regional sourcing agreements by facilitating transition with supplier(s) and plants in region
  • Conducts local/regional sourcing, including contracting and negotiations, when applicable for materials and services to deliver savings vs. targets
  • Continually develop strong relationships with internal business partners across the company and stay connected with their individual business strategies and needs.
  • Communicate regional requirements and escalate major supplier issues to Global Category Managers
  • Ensure best practices in P2P process
  • Manage and develop staff
  • Leads a team of regional/plant buyers and/or purchasing specialists to ensure that best practices in sourcing, processes and site services are implemented for their designated sites.
  • Works with suppliers to resolve local supply issues, tracks vendor reliability & performance as well as product/material/service quality that get escalated from the site buyer(s)
  • Evaluates supplier performance data and drives improvement at local / regional level
  • Reviews and approves new vendor requests
  • Ensure compliance of negotiated contracts
  • Ensures appropriate local sourcing process takes place according to FMC purchasing policies and procedures
  • Partner with site management to align with site goals and procurement goals, assures site needs are met, conducts regular meetings to assure alignment and to report progress and results of procurement initiatives and projects.
  • Works with Regional Procurement Managers and CoE to optimize use of systems and appropriate automation tools
  • Works with other functional areas to streamline and improve process and ensure sites are trained on procurement policies and processes
  • Effective communication with various departments to monitor and correct issues, such as, delivery, quality, packaging issues, or invoice issues.
  • Maintains relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure good, reliable sources of supply and information.
  • Ensure vendors are complying with quality, price, packaging and shipping guidelines
  • Assure full compliance with all regulations and responsible care guidelines

Required Education


  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related major; MBA preferred



  • Successful experience in leading in a matrix organization, leading or participation on teams across reporting lines
  • Experience applying curiosity to thoroughly evaluate current processes and procedures.
  • Able to manage and develop people to deliver results
  • Results oriented; ability to work independently on several sourcing projects at the same time
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple departments to advance organizational goals
  • Capable of managing a variety of local /regional priorities and issues simultaneously
  • Effective at designing practices, processes and procedures for effective communications and guidance for remote decision making
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills required
  • Project management experience in implementation with cross-functional savings projects is required.Ability to quickly and efficiently examine and understand new situations/problems and apply previous knowledge to craft innovative solutions.
  • Previous experience souring on a regional or global basis is required
  • Category management experience desired
  • Highly agile learner with demonstrated track record of performance with creative problem solving skills
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity
  • 5-7 years commercial, purchasing and/or supply chain –operations experience,
  • Capable of utilizing spend management technology to negotiate and realize savings.
  • Negotiation skills; supplier or customer relationship management; some contract management, either commercial or sourcing, and execution skills.
  • Overseas sourcing experience desirable
  • SAP experience executing procurement activities necessary.
  • APICS and/or CPM certification, preferred
