Overview

Temporary position slotted for one year. Will provide high-quality and practical legal support for Human Resources, the Law Department, Data Privacy projects and business teams with respect to labor, employment, benefits and ethics and compliance issues

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide counsel on US employment laws, including ADA, ADEA, Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, OFCCP, WARN Act, NLRA, and ERISA, and issues such as benefits, immigration, labor unions, severance, releases, non-competition agreements, background checks, drug testing, discrimination charges and employee claims, etc.
  • Create templates to facilitate legal advice and reviews (i.e., severance agreements, non-compete agreements)
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Company’s data privacy program and initiatives
  • Direct outside counsel and supervise employment litigation and labor arbitrations
  • Involvement with the ethics and business conduct program, including updating the code, reviewing and selecting training modules to support legal requirements, involvement in the Company’s whistleblower / internal reporting system and program, leading or managing internal investigations, as required, resolving complaints and reporting to senior management
  • Develop and deliver labor, employment, and privacy training and communicate updates
  • Identify and assist in the implementation of HR policy and process improvements
  • Effectively maintain records and files of matters handled or managed.

 

Required Education

Job Specifications:

  • JD with license to practice law
  • 5 plus years of experience in employment law and 3 years data privacy law
  • Clear, concise, effective communicator and writer
  • Demonstrated creativity, integrity, initiative, resilience, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent drafting skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal/written communications skills
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively with and manage outside legal counsel, investigators, and other outside service providers

Qualifications

Perferred Requirements

  • In-house experience
  • Experience with domestic and international data privacy laws
  • Experience with federal contract compliance and OFCCP requirements
  • Knowledge or experience in US employment laws
  • Knowledge or experience in global/international employment laws and/or practices
  • Experience working with corporate ethics and compliance programs and code of business conduct
