Overview

The Production Scheduling Purpose is to work with the FMC Supply Chain Team to translate company demand into a realistic weekly plant schedule taking several factors into account. These factors include labor, line capacity constraints, warehouse space, changeovers, equipment, and materials arriving, among several others.

Responsibilities

There are two major roles to this job: Production Scheduling and Operation Support.

 

The main support purpose is to measure OEE on a process by process basis. Tracking, analyzing, and accurately documenting this data will pinpoint major areas for improvement. Other purposes are to work with several operators and members of management to identify projects or ideas that will overall increase plant productivity and safety.

 

  • Serve as primary plant commercialization contact for new/changing products & packaging.  Oversees the preparation of the weekly onsite production schedule for all FMC sales areas, coordinating product demand with Global Supply Chain schedulers.  The finished production schedule is then communicated weekly to plant personnel.  Coordinates all site Bill Of Material and recipe management in SAP.  
  • Create raw material purchase requisitions as needed to meet upcoming production demand
  • Schedule production lines and manpower to meet weekly/monthly demand
  • Work with Corporate production planner to develop and smooth-out long-term demand planning (typically 1 - 16 weeks)
  • Lead daily production, daily scheduling, and weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Assist production with daily production reporting needs
  • Complete weekly/monthly reporting metrics as required
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to identify and develop process changes and modifications to enhance operating reliability and product quality and to improve efficiencies of key processes
  • Conduct observations of line performance to assess current state and quantify opportunity areas, including activities like changeover and cleanout
  • Assist in development and implementation of production loss accounting systems for all production lines, working with operators to collect accurate data on losses
  • Train operators on best practices identified as part of continuous improvement projects
  • Support scale up activities for new or modified products under direction of lead engineers
  • Adhere to the plant's safety and health policies and procedures. Participate in project safety reviews / management of change reviews / site safe conditions audits as appropriate
  • Measures of Performance:
  • Enhanced ability for site to react to unexpected changes in demand
  • Effective use of MPS/MRP applications
  • Effectively leveling machine and labor capacity to minimize over-time and change-overs
  • Consistently meeting committed customer requirements while maintaining acceptable inventory levels and meeting ship dates for customer requirements
  • Compliance with process safety standards and corporate requirements communicated via the Operations Safety & Health Manager
  • Site PHA’s and/or PSSE’s completed as required
  • Evidence of an active, utilized MOC process at the site
  • All PHA, and safety reviews of capital projects are completed as necessary
  • Achievement of site’s capital plan – on schedule and on budget
  • The facility improves its ability to meet deadlines and order commitments without business interruption caused by operational issues.
  • Contributions made to production rates and/or yields due to technical or equipment process improvements

Required Education

BS/BA required.  Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years manufacturing experience preferred 
  • Excellent communication skills to create effective interactions with multiple functional groups and levels of the organization. Includes the ability to present and sell ideas, plans and recommendations through strong personal influence building skills that lead to consensus decisions and plans
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Willingness to learn through hands-on experience in production facilities
  • Computer literate, Microsoft Office knowledge required. Strong SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and task completion dates
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Result driven and self-starter
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
