The Financial Analyst will support the Finance Manager with financial analysis and planning connected to the general Lithium business, including sales forecasting, non-manufacturing cost centers, support of the sales and commercial team and analytic work related to the business. The role will also support the Manufacturing Finance Manager and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Director with selected analytic and forecasting activities. The role will require a good foundation in accounting or financial analysis but will build on this skillset through gradually increasing knowledge of the Lithium business, operations, accounting and financial analytics. The position will work extensively in SAP with emphasis on the Business Intelligence and Profitability Analysis modules. The position requires strong analytic ability, the desire to learn and a commitment to teamwork within a dynamic, fast-paced business in an exciting sector. A passion for finance is a necessity.



General Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of core FP&A activities for FMC Lithium, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and core financial analysis.
  • With guidance from the manufacturing and commercial Finance Managers, provide industry and business insights from a finance perspective to leadership and other business partners to enable informed decision making.
  • Drive a Safety Agenda.
  • Respond promptly to all information requests from department members and internal stakeholders.


FP&A for Division Management Team:

  • Assist with monthly and quarterly forecasts for FMC Lithium, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow forecast process and analyze and communicate changes in actual results and forecasts in both external and management reporting. Perform quality control activities related to reporting and financial submissions.
  • Support FMC Lithium finance leadership in the completion of annual planning activities and the development of an annual budget.
  • Assist with management reporting cadence and provide reporting and analytics to FMC Lithium leadership, particularly for sales & commercial teams.
  • Provide inputs to accounting for the preparation of month, quarter and year-end schedules.
  • Assist with audits from a business perspective as needed.
  • Complete special projects with an emphasis on supporting data gathering and analysis for project proposals and scenario planning.
  • Highlight opportunities to reduce costs, improve bottom line and gain efficiencies.
  • Provide input/ suggestions for process improvement initiatives within the FP&A space.
  • Assist with technology improvements as required.
  • Assist in special manufacturing and operations projects that require financial and cost support.
  • Support with preparation of review decks for management and CEO/CFO meetings.

Required Education


  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration with 1-3 years of financial analysis or financial accounting oriented roles.


  • Experience in financial management and performing sophisticated financial analyses of businesses or business divisions within a global environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  
  • Advanced skills using enterprise software systems (SAP preferred), and MS Office products. In particular, candidate should be expert with Excel and be able to use advanced features such as linking files, running macros, and using pivot tables. Strong on PowerPoint.
  • Ability to gather and manipulate data from multiple sources.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated and strong organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in the budgeting and forecasting functions for a significant divisional or corporate organization.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in planning and conducting complex studies to determine cost of business activities and recommends budget adjustments, and other cost improvement measures.
  • Able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision, pro-actively adjudge and react to potential problems, and effectively communicate at all levels of management.
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills, with ability to identify financial drivers and perform high level/detailed assessments and analyzes.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing operation is a plus.
