    Overview

    Provide instrumentation and electrical support services to all areas of the plant site.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Support overall unit electrical and instrument systems and management of change.
    • Assist operations and maintenance with troubleshooting instrument and electrical problems.
    • Execute Change of Design’s (COD) and complete design to correctly and safely implement identified improvements or projects.
    • Act as I&E liaison with Engineering Contractor for projects in order to ensure site policies, procedures, standards and specifications are met.
      • Write or approve project scopes
      • Mark and approve I&E drawings
      • Establish and maintain installation details and standards
      • Represent business unit at Process Hazard Analysis and set standards for implementing site and corporate I &E standards
    • Participate as active member of unit technology team in order to develop and implement long range plans for instrument and electrical.
    • Provide instrument and electrical checkout and start-up support of facilities in order to meet production and business needs.
    • Guide and train area personnel on instrument and electrical technologies in order to assist reliability effort.
    • Create and maintain related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of unit instrument and electrical technologies.
    • Participate on related networks and user groups in order to leverage learnings across the organization.       
    • Provide overall technical guidance to I&E Area Resources on instrumentation issues in order to ensure site instrumentation needs are met.
    • Write procedure and maintain the site’s Safety Instrumented Systems

    Required Education

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Instrument and Control Systems
    • Manufacturing plant experience (Chemical Plant Preferred): 5 years
    • Experience must include the design, creation of specifications, selection, and installation of instrumented systems: 4 years
    • Experience with pneumatic and electronic instrumentation interfaced with DCS or PLCs: 5 years
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support instruments, control panels, and control systems and infrastructure
    • Demonstrated knowledge of I&E drawings including electrical schematics, loops, logic diagrams, and P&I diagrams with documentation.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of instrument calibration, commissioning, process control principles, and ISO 9001 Compliance.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Safety Instrument Systems and Layer of Protection Analysis Standards
    • Excellent communications/interpersonal skills to allow productive collaborative relationships with varying levels of organization from technicians to management

    Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Industrial Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical
    • Journeyman electrician or instrument technician card/license
    • Experience as an electrical or instrument technician: 10+ Years
    • Demonstrated strengths in getting results, meeting commitments & problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical principles, technologies, codes and standards.
    • Demonstrated knowledge Electrical distribution and power systems experience required for this position include Motor Control Centers, Drives, Inverters, and other related 480V systems
