    Overview

     

    China-based legal counsel of FMC Corporate Law Department, with primary focus on China, Korea, and Japan. Looking for a savvy business partner that can provide both practical and strategic advice on the legal, regulatory, and business environments applicable to a large, multi-national crop protection company. The successful candidate for this role will have demonstrated self-leadership and initiative, the ability to work independently and in support of senior business leaders, and clear communication skills with business leaders and lawyers across Asia Pacific and in the United States on significant, and often time-sensitive, matters.  

     

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate for this role will “hit-the-ground-running” and be responsible for the following:

     

    • Providing primary support for business teams in China, Korea, and Japan on commercial, operational, compliance, and regulatory issues, including, without limitation, antitrust and U.S. FCPA matters;
    • Promoting the implementation of corporate policies, such as record retention, contract management, signing authority, and others;
    • Assisting Singapore-based Regional Counsel in developing and providing compliance and other policy trainings across region;
    • Supporting the negotiation, execution, and implementation of commercial agreements (e.g., distribution, supply, R&D, and procurement agreements).
    • Participating in corporate initiatives to improve existing contract templates;
    • Managing commercial claims, disputes, and litigation in close coordination with business;
    • Providing legal support to external growth projects (M&A, licensing & joint development, etc.);
    • Supervising legal entity set-up, maintenance, and restructuring, ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements pertaining to corporate governance;
    • Supporting trade secret, confidentiality, trademarks, and other IP related issues in close coordination with IP counsel and business counsel;
    • Coordinating compliance efforts and response actions on import/export matters; and
    • Handling other matters that may be assigned by the Regional Counsel.
    • LLM degree from top tier law school with at least 7-8 years law firm and MNC combined experience, OR LLB degree from top tier law school with at least 8-10 years law firm and MNC combined experience;
    • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry (esp. chemical industry) and understanding of general issues facing MNCs in the region;
    • Strong multi-tasking capability and interpersonal skills;
    • Team player with ability to work independently and under pressure;
    • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) required, with Bahasa or other ASEAN language skills desired; and
    • Knowledge and experience in intellectual property is desired.

    Required Education

    • LLM degree from top tier law school with at least 7-8 years law firm and MNC combined experience, OR LLB degree from top tier law school with at least 8-10 years law firm and MNC combined experience;
