    Overview

    Develop, implement, and maintain programs and procedures to minimize occupational safety risks and ensure compliance with regulatory and FMC requirements. Lead change and safety performance improvement through engagement with plant floor personnel.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead safety culture change effort.
    • Compile and interpret leading and lagging indicators to develop improvement actions.
    • Own site Safety & Health programs and procedures.
    • Own site Industrial Hygiene monitoring program.
    • Lead incident investigation teams, identify root causes, and determine appropriate corrective actions to improve safety performance.
    • Lead and direct the effort of part-time Safety Technicians/Operators.
    • Lead Behavior-Based Safety program
    • Lead/direct the efforts of the site Safety Committee.
    • Lead Risk Assessments
      • Perform Manual Material Handling Assessments and lead the implementation of associated corrective actions,
      • Lead the effort for Hazard Analysis Mitigation (HAM) of Production related non-standard work activities. Review completed HAMs for trends and provide input to Area Managers when a SOP is needed,
      • Perform PPE assessments and certifications.
    • Implement corrective actions for known and identified unsafe conditions by leading projects and/or through working with FMC Engineering and engineering consultant(s).
    • Serve as Radiation Safety Officer (certification required/preferred).
    • Manage the Asbestos hazard management program (certification required/preferred).
    • Perform internal safety audits to ensure conformance to FMC safety standards and BC safety management system. Co-ordinate development of and then maintain status on any action items coming out of site audits.
    • Work with EHS Manager to co-ordinate any external regulatory audits and negotiate with regulatory authorities regarding company's filings.
    • Assemble information for and submit regulatory reports to meet all corporate, State and Federal requirements related to safety and health.
    • Work with EHS Manager to develop budgets for safety and health activities.

    Required Education

    • BS degree in health, safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, Engineering, or related field
    • CSP, CHMM, or CIH preferred

    Qualifications

    • 5 years directly related experience in Health, Safety, or Industrial Hygiene
    • Significant working knowledge of OSHA regulations
    • Effectively demonstrates ability to deliver on complex situations or problems without guidance or supervision
    • Conveys information with clarity and directness, ensuring the message is understood across diverse teams
    • Some experience creating and maintaining safety training programs
    • Some knowledge and experience in industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring
    • Highly motivated, energetic, self-directed individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Plans, schedules, and leads team meetings and training sessions.
    • Computer experience to accurately enter information and data into FMC business systems (SIMS, SAP, Sharepoint).
    • Uses MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and VMX to communicate all work instructions, circuit and order statuses, and job assignments.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. To perform emergency response activities, the employee will occasionally be required to don a self-contained breathing apparatus and/or a full face respirator.

     

    Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
