    Overview

    FMC Global Regulatory Sciences is looking for a highly-motivated individual to work in our Investigative Toxicology Group in our Newark, Delaware, research facility. The successful candidate will conduct routine research laboratory activities and information/data management activities in support of research and development with guidance from a Senior Toxicologist and within established procedures. Working in an interdisciplinary team environment, the successful candidate will identify and suggest improvements in methods, plan projects of limited duration and scope, and troubleshoot experiments when erroneous or unexpected results occur.   Responsibilities will also include utilizing a variety of techniques, effectively documenting findings and communicating results produced from research experiments and/or information/data management. 

    Responsibilities

    • Perform in vitro mammalian cell-based assays (endocrine, hepatocyte, etc.).
    • Assist in research project design and data interpretation of in vitro toxicology assays.
    • Perform tube and multi-well plate-based assays, including receptor binding, inhibition, enzymatic, RIA, ELISA and quantitative PCR assays.    
    • Perform tissue homogenization procedures. 
    • Handle radio-labeled isotopes.
    • Prepare buffers, basic wet chemistry calculations and serial dilutions.
    • Conduct statistical analysis of data and preparation of reports or research papers based on the results of the assays performed.
    • Write and revise technical documents including lab standard operating procedures (SOPs) and testing protocols.
    • Schedule maintenance or repair for lab equipment, order lab supplies and routine safety inspections.
    • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.

    Required Education

    M.S. in biology, chemistry or related science field with a minimum 3 years in an industrial laboratory environment or B.S. degree in biology, chemistry or related science field with at least 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial laboratory environment.

    Qualifications

    • Formal training working with cell culture (aseptic technique)
    • Experience working with radio-labeled materials.
    • Experience working with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) materials.
    • Strong computer software skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Origin scientific graphing software.
    • Experience with gamma/liquid scintillation counters, UV spectrophotometers, and UV/fluorescence plate readers
    • Experience conducting quantitative PCR assays
    • Strong interpersonal skills including networking ability with the desire to contribute towards team success
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent project management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible environment, learning new skills which can be utilized within Global Regulatory Sciences across both discovery and development.
