    Responsibilities

    FMC Agricultural Solutions has an immediate opening for a motivated Discovery Chemist at Stine Research Center in Newark, DE.  The Agricultural Solutions division is an R&D-based business, dependent upon the introduction of new products to deliver a competitive advantage in the agrochemical industry. The Discovery Chemistry organization employs synthetic organic chemists to design and synthesize new high-performance crop protection molecules that may lead to new commercial products.  We are seeking Ph.D. chemists with strong grounding in synthetic organic chemistry. 

     

    Candidates will have a solid knowledge of modern synthetic methods, separation techniques, and spectroscopic identification approaches. The ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team of scientists is essential, as successful candidates will work closely with other synthetic chemists, computational chemists, biochemists, and biologists in the discovery process. 

    Required Education

    Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related discipline is required and further post-doctoral experience is desirable. 

    Qualifications

    • A solid knowledge of traditional carbocyclic and heterocyclic chemistry and modern synthetic methodologies, modern separation methods (e.g., MPLC, HPLC), characterization techniques (e.g., NMR, MS/MS, LC/MS, GC/MS & IR), for the design of synthetic targets is required.
    • The ability to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and to capture and maintain appropriate records and effectively communicate results is essential.
    • The ability to effectively develop and test hypotheses and quickly determine the feasibility of a proposal is critical.
