    Responsibilities

    This is an exciting opportunity for a government affairs professional to join the newly formed government affairs function of FMC Corporation’s Lithium business which is planned to be separated into an independent, publicly-traded company later this year. Based in Philadelphia, you will be responsible for developing a government affairs strategy that addresses existing and emerging challenges and opportunities for the FMC Lithium business. The position will demand a thorough understanding of the role and impact government plays in the business, including in the development, manufacturing, commercialization, delivery, and stewardship of its products. The Director must be able to identify and appropriately utilize available government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), trade and technical associations and customer and other stakeholder influence to effectuate the desired outcomes for the FMC Lithium business, its product lines and sustainability goals.

     

    The position will work in concert with FMC Lithium business units and functions to support and guide their business strategies. Objectives will be established based on how FMC Lithium can shape the range of possible outcomes given the current and future, political, legislative, and regulatory landscape as well as market conditions. Experience with Latin American government affairs and ability to speak Spanish are each a plus.

    Bachelor’s degree

    Qualifications

    • Combined minimum 10+ years of experience working either in a government affairs capacity for a mid to large size multi-national company, government regulatory agency, as a private sector consultant for the chemical industry on legislative/regulatory issues, or in a related senior legislative/regulatory oversight U.S. congressional staff position;
    • Breadth to understand the many potential influencers, advocates, impediments, and resources that occupy the complex governmental and commercial space that impact the business;
    • Expertise in policy, legislative, and regulatory processes and the ability to ascertain those developments and areas of opportunity most critical to the business' success;
    • Understanding of international markets and developments, particularly in Latin America, is a plus;
    • Ability to grasp complicated technical, policy, legislative, and regulatory concepts and translate them concisely and in well understood terms;
    • Excellent interpersonal and persuasion skills;
    • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize and follow through on numerous matters simultaneously;
