     FMC seeks an experienced patent agent qualified to practice before the US Patent Office.



    • Develop and maintain a patent portfolio which protects an assigned portion of FMC’s Discovery and Development R&D.
    • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in jurisdictions worldwide.
    • Develop and update IP strategy to stay aligned with business strategy.
    • Conduct periodic patent portfolio reviews to maintain alignment with business and strategic direction.
    • Support IP attorneys, including analysis of third party patents.
    • Manage legal costs and resources.

    Required Education

    At minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related field.


    • Five (5) years or more R&D experience
    • Ability to travel to Philadelphia weekly
    • Qualified to practice before the US Patent Office
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Takes initiative and works independently, while coordinating with colleagues and internal clients
    • Demonstrated ability to manage executive level confidential situations
    • Ability to prioritize work independently and exercise sound judgement
    • Ability to share his/her knowledge with others, while maintaining strict levels of confidentiality
    • Anticipates needs, takes initiative, and has perseverance
    • Highly organized, detail oriented and able to follow through on assignments
    • Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities
    • Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with business persons and with other departments to advance organizational goals
    • Ability to plan, organize, and carryout multiple, detailed tasks
    • Ability to be a proactive, self-starter, who understands the details within a much larger context
