    As part of an international Project Execution Team, lead all aspects of the Construction activities for large chemical plant expansion projects, from conception to completion.  Responsible for overall project performance including Safety, Environment, Project Controls, Material Management, Quality, Client Relations and Project Status in the project development and construction phases. 


    • During the project’s early planning phases develops and coordinates:
      • Construction execution planning
      • Contracting strategies planning and packaging
      • Implements a workforce planning program
      • Implements the Constructability and Safety in Design program
      • Provides Schedule and Estimate integrity and validation
      • Ensures adherence to project Quality plans
    • Oversee all onsite and offsite construction activities, to ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Be the Project Safety Champion and Safety Leader.
    • Work closely with Project Management, Cost Control, and Scheduling, to ensure that projects are constructed safely, on budget, and on time. Provide experience based input to the project team to set realistic targets.
    • Implement and lead the Constructability Program and Reviews of major capital projects:
      • Identify the path of construction, areas of concern, or alternative options
      • Identify optimum integration of construction knowledge and experience in the planning, engineering, procurement, and field operations, to achieve overall project objectives.
      • Attend and participate in 3D Model reviews to support project requirements. Identify areas of concern, and answering questions in relation to construction.
    • Work closely with Procurement and Project Managers to identify and qualify construction contractors with appropriate skills, equipment and capabilities.
    • Work with Project Management, Engineering and Contracts in the development of the contracting process to ensure the preparation of proper contracts, making certain that prior to award contractors understand the project rules, their scope of the work, and the schedule.
    • Review and evaluate contract bid documentation and support the contracting process to ensure the selected contractor can meet the needs of the project requirements.
    • Monitor all field construction activities to assure compliance with the project schedule, standards, procedures, goals and take corrective actions to bring the project back into compliance.
    • Identify and lead the mitigation of construction roadblocks and risks. Be vigilant in anticipating problems and developing proactive solutions.
    • Strong presence in the field during Construction, monitoring safety, costs and schedule progression. Provide timely feedback to stakeholders on project progression.
    • Ensure quality construction standards and proper construction techniques are used always by providing technical oversight from an execution and field quality installation perspective.
    • Coordinating and facilitating smooth interaction between intercompany departments as appropriate, including engineering, procurement, construction, cost and project controls.

    Required Education


    • BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field.


    • At least 10 years’ experience in execution of major capital projects in the chemical or petrochemical industries.
    • Experience designing and preparing Construction Procedures and Execution Plans.
    • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with all stakeholders, including contractors and sub-contractors.
    • Strong conflict management skills.
    • Experience working with international teams.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Team player who is flexible and attuned to meeting the needs of the Lithium Business.
    • Must be able to travel 50-75 % of the time.  Includes international travel to South America and Asia.
    • Experience working on construction projects at remote location and high altitude is a plus.
    • Comfortable living in camp housing for extended period.
