    Assist the Unit Operations Leader in leading the operation of a manufacturing unit to meet safety, environmental, production, yield and quality requirements. Provide functional guidance and leadership to Operations Technicians at the Mobile Plant Site.


    • Set and maintain safety and environmental standards in the area and lead incident investigations (PIRs, QIRs, Near Misses) in order to maintain a safe work place.
    • Work closely with Day-to-Day Leader and Process Engineer to drive continuous improvements. Provide operator training and operator qualification testing in order to ensure safety standards and production goals are met.
    • Provide communications to operators on performance and set standards for operating discipline in order to meet business needs. 
    • Perform minimum of annual formal performance review 
    • Review and approve Operating Procedures, P&ID’s and SOC’s according to the safety and quality system requirements of the site in order to maintain safe operations and ensure quality products.  
    • Ensure team compliance with 100% participation in monthly safety meetings and all required training. 
    • Ensure team compliance with site requirements around JCC execution. 
    • Perform regular shift relief and time log audits.  
    • Monitor and report on critical process parameters such as safety, environmental, production, quality, and yields on a regular basis in order to meet PSM and FMC Corporate Safety requirements. 
    • Make use of area committees including Focused Improvement program and the area safety committee in order to improve area operations. 
    • Provide off-hours assistance to operations in order to maximize uptime and troubleshoot the process. 
    • Work together with Training team to develop training plans, including job spot cross training and JCC compliance. 
    • Effective coaching (individual & team) 
    • Support site Committees (PSM, RCMS, Safety Committee, Rules & Standards) 
    • PSSRs, Audits, 24/7, line walks, TRAs 
    • Ensure compliance with administrative responsibilities and systems like SAP and Kronos

    Required Education

    • 3 – 5 years of demonstrated strong leadership skills in a Chemical Manufacturing setting.
    • 4 year degree preferred, or on the job experience or an Associates Degree with 2 years of leadership experience 


    • Demonstrated ability to meet and get results
    • Strong understanding and commitment around operations discipline and PSM
    • Familiar with ISO quality and environmental standards
    • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot process and mechanical problems, define and implement corrective and preventive actions
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization in writing and verbally
    • Ability to function in, lead, and develop a team in a continuous improvement environment
    • Ability to set clear expectations and hold people accountable, particularly in the areas of safety, productivity and operating discipline
    • Coaching/Mentoring skills
    • Ability to work rotational 12 hour shifts
