    The Field Station Manager (FSM) implements a field testing program at the Stine Research Center (200A) to support various Research, Development and Commercial functions and ensures the effectiveness, safety and compliance of all operations. The FSM is actively involved in a broad range of work activities, spanning early-stage discovery and lead optimization, product development, technical support and commercial demonstrations of commercial products in all disciplines. The FSM reports to the Herbicide and Field Research Station Group Leader.


    • Work hand in hand with Discovery, Development and commercial teams to ensure that field trials are planned and executed in a timely manner and meet business objectives
    • Ensure infrastructure, agronomic preparations and conduct high confidence field tests of crop protection chemicals for biological efficacy and crop safety for discovery, development and commercialization projects
    • Coordinate trial plans, ensure appropriate agronomic and other support for groups that may be conducting own trials on the station, with special emphasis on safety and compliance
    • Collect field research data and enter in corporate database in a timely manner. Responsible for the data quality for all trials conducted or managed.
    • Summarize and communicate results and make recommendations for commercial use
    • Facilitate strong working relationship with stakeholders across the organization
    • Work closely with Stine scientists to build strong team relationships
    • Ensure that all activities and infrastructure meet local, state, and Federal regulations and laws, including safe storage, shipping, handling and application of EPA-approved and experimental agricultural products, including WPS (Federal Worker Protection Standards) for Stine Farm
    • Maintain strong technical knowledge of commercial, new chemistries & other technology impacting the business as well as local agronomic practices
    • Recruit, train, mentor and supervise crew of contractors that assist with daily operations of the station and field research
    • Maintain or arrange service of all tractors, machinery and equipment on the station
    • Work closely with the Field Research Station Group leader on equipment and agronomy plans for expanding future global capabilities

    Required Education

    MS or PhD in Entomology, Weed Science, Plant Pathology, Agronomy or other agricultural/related science or equivalent experience with field research experience.


    PhD preferred


    • 7 to 10 years' experience in discovery, development and commercialization of agricultural products and 5+ years in production agriculture
    • Strong commitment to safety
    • Working knowledge of disease, insect and weeds and appropriate field testing procedures with a high level of technical competency in one or more of these disciplines
    • Knowledge of agricultural cropping systems, pests, practices and products and farm machinery operation skills
    • Experience in field plot technique and statistical analysis of data
    • Delaware State pesticide application license required (or can be acquired)
    • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
    • Strong track record of delivering results that meet and exceed commitments
    • Capable of designing protocols and research projects
    • Excellent speaking, writing, and computer skills
    • Experience in managing time and priorities in an independent work environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and collaborative cooperation
    • Strong experience in communicate to a wide variety of internal and external audiences in a way that promotes understanding and builds relationships
    • Commitment to safe driving practices, chemical handling and use of equipment
