    Overview

    The Mobile Manufacturing Center has immediate opening for a Laboratory Technician.  This position will perform routine and non-routine analyses to support the manufacture of agricultural products and analytical needs of operating areas. Sample analyses include, but are not limited to, the running of process and final product samples, raw materials and environmental control samples. At all levels, the laboratory technicians will take functional and technical guidance from site chemists and the laboratory manager. 

     

    Responsibilities

    Candidates must have a strong work ethic, work well in team environments, demonstrate the ability to work independently, and conduct their work in a safe and efficient manner. 

    • Develop working knowledge of all the site's laboratory methods in order to support the business units and operating areas.
    • Perform routine, non-routine analyses and other tasks necessary in order to ensure effective operation in support of manufacturing.
    • Maintain analytical results, laboratory instrumentation, standardization, and equipment documents as quality records, in order to ensure accuracy of data produced.
    • Assist analytical and development chemists to correct, resolve and improve results, problems and complaints from all parts of the business.
    • Operate all types of analytical instruments in order to perform all routine and non-routine analytical tasks associated with product and environmental samples both in the main laboratory and in the production unit labs.
    • Adapt new analytical methods to the Laboratory with the guidance of a chemist in order to support new products and analytical needs for existing products.
    • Handle laboratory waste in a safe and effective manner in order to comply with corporate guidelines and local and federal laws.
    • Provide documentation for analytical methods, in order to maintain a quality system.
    • Troubleshoot routine methods used in the production unit labs.
    • Train Operation and Laboratory Technicians in the use of routine laboratory methods, in order to ensure that everyone is capable of solving method problems.

    Required Education

    B.S. Degree in a natural science, Chemistry preferred, or  High School Diploma/equivalent with a minimum of 3 years laboratory experience.

    Qualifications

    • Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation (i.e. balances, titrators, LC, GC, IC, pH meters).
    • Experience performing analyses by using the proper analytical techniques as well as environmental sample analyses.
    • Experience with analytical method set-up, calibration, analysis and problem solving.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and use of chromatography data systems (i.e. Atlas, XChrom, Chemstation, GLIMS, etc.).
    • Ability to work independently with minimum guidance, including achieving results, from initial communication to final reporting.
    • The ability to work in a high performance team environment, functioning as a contributing member of the team, so that team goals are met or exceeded.
    • Be willing to work a rotating day / night or weekend shift as required to support the business processes.
    • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing conditions, work load, and environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to work safely on and off the job.
