    Overview

    FMC Ag Solutions, Analytical Sciences is seeking Ph.D. NMR Spectroscopist candidates to support their Agricultural Solutions business. A principle scientific background in NMR Spectroscopy preferably with expertise in structure determination of small molecules is required. In this role, key responsibilities are to perform structure elucidation of agricultural pipeline products, their intermediates, metabolites and impurities. The scope of this role includes support for: discovery, process and formulations development, manufacturing of existing commercial and pipeline products, and defense the current product portfolio.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide NMR expertise to the structure elucidation team to rapidly solve problems.
    • Work directly with synthetic chemists to rapidly provide structure determinations.
    • Direct laboratory programs to design, develop and implement new NMR technologies and techniques to improve support for pipeline and current products.
    • Train, develop and supervise two associate spectroscopists in a way that enhances their knowledge, skills and capabilities.
    • Interface with business-wide internal customers to resolve product issues.
    • Know, understand and practice all aspects of laboratory safety and industrial hygiene protocols.
    • Manage multiple, concurrent projects and prioritize work to efficiently allocate resources to meet business needs.

    Required Education

    Ph.D. degree in Physical, Organic or Natural Products chemistry with concentration in NMR spectroscopy

    Qualifications

    • 0 – 3 years of industrial research experience with a track record of delivering results
    • Track record of providing innovative solutions to complex problems
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with other scientists, engineers and management at all levels.
    • Good planning and record keeping skills
    • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
    • Good written and oral communication skills;
    • Experience managing multiple demands in timeline driven environment
