The Global R&D and Global Regulatory FP&A Business Partner will be responsible for all aspects of financial planning and analysis for these global functions.  The business partner will be responsible for working closely with the VP of R&D / Chief Technology Officer and the VP of Regulatory Affairs to develop budgets and forecasts and to ensure transparent spend tracking and reporting.  The role also oversees the evaluation and analysis of the economic value of the R&D pipeline including supporting business case analytics.  The economic outlook for the R&D pipeline is regularly reviewed with the company’s senior management.  The role is responsible for working with the global FP&A Center of Excellence (COE) to ensure the R&D and regulatory spend areas are accurately reflected in the consolidated planning and reporting processes. The role has a direct report and will have access to FP&A COE resources to help develop standard reporting and analyses for the spend areas.  The total annual spend in the areas of responsibility is approximately $350M.  


  • Partner with the VP of R&D / CTO and VP of Regulatory Affairs to develop budgets and forecasts and to manage spend towards these commitments
  • Responsible for review of actual results, variances to budget, forecasts, and prior year results
  • Engage as the finance leader on the R&D and Regulatory Affairs leadership teams to help drive the financial priorities of the organizations
  • Oversee the financial modeling supporting the valuation of the R&D pipeline
  • Provide direction to FP&A COE resources in developing standard reporting and analyses for these spend areas
  • Provide input to the Accounting function on accruals and validation of actual results
  • Prepare periodic management reporting packages including supporting analytics
  • Provide ad-hoc FP&A support to finance and business leaders
  • Work closely with the FP&A COE on implementing improvement, standardization, and modernization initiatives to ensure positive results.

Required Education

  • BA / BS in Finance/Accounting
  • MBA / MA preferred


  • 12+ years of overall finance experience
  • 7+ years of FP&A experience
  • FP&A experience in a R&D and/or regulatory environment preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft products
  • SAP experience including BPC and BW is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively balance financial and operational factors and analyze complex business problems to develop appropriate solutions in a timely and responsive manner
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and influence senior leaders
  • Experience managing direct reports, stakeholders, and overall governance of business unit
